Hello

My prayer is that I will grow closer to Christ through my reflections.

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Jesus said to his disciples: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. “I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete.”
Jn 15

I believe in You Lord, help my unbelief. I trust in You Lord, help me to trust more. I Love You Lord, strengthen my love.

R. All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.

Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done wondrous deeds; His right hand has won victory for him, his holy arm.

The LORD has made his salvation known: in the sight of the nations he has revealed his justice. He has remembered his kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel.

All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation by our God. Sing joyfully to the LORD, all you lands; break into song; sing praise.

R. All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.
Ps 98:

Praise be to God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit!

Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be. Where I am going you know the way.” Thomas said to him, “Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Jn 14

Thank you Thomas for your questions! Lord, I want always to be by Your side! Guide my journey! Lead me to Your Father's house!

Thursday, April 29, 2010

R. For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
The favors of the LORD I will sing forever; through all generations my mouth shall proclaim your faithfulness. For you have said, “My kindness is established forever”;
in heaven you have confirmed your faithfulness.

“My faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him, and through my name shall his horn be exalted. He shall say of me, ‘You are my father, my God, the Rock, my savior.’”
R. For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
Psalm Ps 89:

God is so good. God is so good. God is so good, he's so good to me.

My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one can take them out of the Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”
Jn 10

Lord keep me always in Your flock. So many times the troubles of my world have beaten me down. Without Your love I would have been lost. Even when I walk through a dark valley, I fear no harm for you are at my side; your rod and staff give me courage.

Thanks Adrienne, It looks great!
The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us his Flesh to eat?” Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the Flesh of the Son of Man and drink his Blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.
For my Flesh is true food, and my Blood is true drink. Whoever eats my Flesh and drinks my Blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.”
Jn 6

Dear Jesus how can I thank You for this Communion visit. You the great Father of heaven and earth have come to be my guest. My heart is very thankful and is singing You a thank you song. Thank You for coming today, thank You again and again for everything. I believe in Thee, I hope in Thee, I trust Thee. Dear Jesus keep me good. (A prayer I learned before my 1st Holy Communion and I have prayed it ever since.)

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Jesus said to the crowds: “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draw him, and I will raise him on the last day. It is written in the prophets: They shall all be taught by God. Everyone who listens to my Father and learns from him comes to me. Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father.

Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate the manna in the desert, but they died; this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my Flesh for the life of the world.”
Jn 6:44-51

Dear God please draw me closer and closer to Your heart. Please draw my Mother closer to You, give her healing of body, mind and soul. Strengthen her and give her courage. Blessed be the Lord our God!

Mary Magdalene stayed outside the tomb weeping. And as she wept, she bent over into the tomb and saw two angels in white sitting there, one at the head and one at the feet where the Body of Jesus had been. And they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken my Lord, and I don’t know where they laid him.” When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus there, but did not know it was Jesus.

Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?” She thought it was the gardener and said to him, “Sir, if you carried him away, tell me where you laid him, and I will take him.” Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to him in Hebrew, “Rabbouni,” which means Teacher. Jesus said to her, “Stop holding on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

Mary went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord,” and then reported what he had told her.
Jn 20

Lord, I have often wondered about the scriptures about Your resurrection. Why were the women the first to hear of Your resurrection? Why didn't Mary recognize You? How was Mary holding You here? There is so much we don't understand. Increase my faith. I am very anxious to be with You. I wish to understand what the gospel writer intended and the message You want us to know.
I do believe that You died on the cross, rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. I do believe that You came for this purpose to save mankind; to save me. I do believe that You love me beyond all telling. Thank You Lord, I long to be with You in heaven.

Monday, April 5, 2010

Alleluia
Keep me, O God, for in you I take refuge; I say to the LORD, “My Lord are you.” O LORD, my allotted portion and my cup, you it is who hold fast my lot.

I bless the LORD who counsels me; even in the night my heart exhorts me. I set the LORD ever before me; with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed.

Therefore my heart is glad and my soul rejoices, my body, too, abides in confidence; Because you will not abandon my soul to the nether world, nor will you suffer your faithful one to undergo corruption.

You will show me the path to life, fullness of joys in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever.
Alleluia
Ps 16

Lord I know that I am truly blessed. Help me to feel the attitude of gratitude down into my bones. Etch it so deeply that it effects all that I say and do. Help me to be more loving. Help me to reflect Your love to those around me, especially anyone I take for granted.

At daybreak on the first day of the week the women who had come from Galilee with Jesus took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb;
Lk 24

Lord the wait is almost over. Thank You for loving me even unto death. I love You

Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

After this, aware that everything was now finished, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I thirst.” There was a vessel filled with common wine. So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth. When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit.
Jn 18

Forgive me Lord, I love you.

Thursday, April 1, 2010

So, during supper, fully aware that the Father had put everything into his power and that he had come from God and was returning to God, he rose from supper and took off his outer garments. He took a towel and tied it around his waist. Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and dry them with the towel around his waist. He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Master, are you going to wash my feet?” Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing, you do not understand now, but you will understand later.” Peter said to him, “You will never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, “Unless I wash you, you will have no inheritance with me.”
Jn 13

Lord, You have washed us clean in Your blood. In the waters of baptism You made me Your sister, Your daughter. How can I wrap my mind around that reality? Then You died for me to give me eternal life with You. How can I wrap my mind around that reality? Your love is beyond imagination, beyond comprehension. How very blessed I am. It pains me Lord to remember all that You suffered for me. Help me to remember Your suffering so that I can avoid and detest my sinfulness because You carried it to Calvary.

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

Lord, in your great love, answer me.
I will praise the name of God in song, and I will glorify him with thanksgiving: “See, you lowly ones, and be glad; you who seek God, may your hearts revive! For the LORD hears the poor, and his own who are in bonds he spurns not.”
Psalm 69

Blessed be God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit! Your mercy and love is great and it lasts forever!

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Reclining at table with his disciples, Jesus was deeply troubled and testified, “Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” The disciples looked at one another, at a loss as to whom he meant. One of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved, was reclining at Jesus’ side. So Simon Peter nodded to him to find out whom he meant. He leaned back against Jesus’ chest and said to him, “Master, who is it?” Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I hand the morsel after I have dipped it.” So he dipped the morsel and took it and handed it to Judas, son of Simon the Iscariot. After Judas took the morsel, Satan entered him. So Jesus said to him, “What you are going to do, do quickly.” Now none of those reclining at table realized why he said this to him. Some thought that since Judas kept the money bag, Jesus had told him, “Buy what we need for the feast,” or to give something to the poor. So Judas took the morsel and left at once. And it was night.

When he had left, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and he will glorify him at once. My children, I will be with you only a little while longer. You will look for me, and as I told the Jews, ‘Where I go you cannot come,’ so now I say it to you.”

Simon Peter said to him, “Master, where are you going?” Jesus answered him, “Where I am going, you cannot follow me now, though you will follow later.” Peter said to him,
“Master, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow before you deny me three times.”
Jn 13

Lord this reading is so troubling to me. How hard it must have been to know who would betray and deny You. For me it would be better not to know. Why did the other apostles not try to stop him? I know it was God's plan for our salvation but the apostles did not know that. Was Judas' betrayal about money? Throughout time Your people have chosen fortune and power over Your love. How lonely You must have been. Lord we all want to follow You to heaven but like Peter we want to avoid the cross. Lord we try but we are weak. Thank You for giving us the opportunity to be forgiven and return to You no matter how many times we fail. Thank You Lord for the gift of Your love and salvation. Thank You for loving in my weakness.

In my distress I called upon the Lord, and he heard my voice.
I love you, O LORD, my strength, O LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer. My God, my rock of refuge, my shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold! Praised be the LORD, I exclaim, and I am safe from my enemies.
The breakers of death surged round about me, the destroying floods overwhelmed me; The cords of the nether world enmeshed me, the snares of death overtook me.
In my distress I called upon the LORD and cried out to my God; From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.
In my distress I called upon the Lord, and he heard my voice.
Psalm 18

All throughout my life Lord You have heard and comforted me. You have been my rock, my sanctuary. Thank You Lord, I love You!

Brothers and sisters: It is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats take away sins. For this reason, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; in holocausts and sin offerings you took no delight. Then I said, ‘As is written of me in the scroll, behold, I come to do your will, O God.’” First he says, “Sacrifices and offerings, holocausts and sin offerings, you neither desired nor delighted in.” These are offered according to the law. Then he says, “Behold, I come to do your will.” He takes away the first to establish the second. By this “will,” we have been consecrated through the offering of the Body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Heb 10

It is beyond our comprehension that the Creator of the world would become one of it's creatures. That You did this because of Your love for us, is a love beyond our imagination. If we could only comprehend and imagine such a thing, we would be different creatures. Our faithfulness would never falter, our convictions would always be strong. Give me Lord the ability to imagine and comprehend the reality of Your love.

Glory and praise for ever!
“Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our fathers, praiseworthy and exalted above all forever; And blessed is your holy and glorious name, praiseworthy and exalted above all for all ages.” “Blessed are you in the temple of your holy glory, praiseworthy and exalted above all forever. “Blessed are you on the throne of your kingdom, praiseworthy and exalted above all forever.” “Blessed are you who look into the depths from your throne upon the cherubim; praiseworthy and exalted above all forever.” “Blessed are you in the firmament of heaven, praiseworthy and glorious forever.”
Glory and praise for ever!
Daniel 3

How very blessed we are to have the Eucharist. We can be with You in heaven while we are here on earth. Help me to always remember and appreciate this awesome gift of Yourself that You have given to us. Glory and praise for ever!

Jesus said to the Pharisees: “I am going away and you will look for me, but you will die in your sin. Where I am going you cannot come.” So the Jews said, “He is not going to kill himself, is he, because he said, ‘Where I am going you cannot come’?” He said to them, “You belong to what is below, I belong to what is above. You belong to this world, but I do not belong to this world. That is why I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I AM, you will die in your sins.”
Jn 8

Lord Jesus, I believe that You are the great I AM. I strive for what is above. Send me the grace to persevere in the world so that I may join You in heaven.

Monday, March 22, 2010

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. In verdant pastures he gives me repose; Beside restful waters he leads me; he refreshes my soul.
He guides me in right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk in the dark valley I fear no evil; for you are at my side With your rod and your staff
that give me courage.
You spread the table before me in the sight of my foes; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Only goodness and kindness follow me all the days of my life; And I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for years to come.
Psalm 23

Lord, long has this psalm been a comfort to me. Hold me like a lamb, tightly in Your embrace. Guide me, protect me, love me.

Saturday, March 20, 2010

But others said, “The Christ will not come from Galilee, will he? Does not Scripture say that the Christ will be of David’s family and come from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?” So a division occurred in the crowd because of him. Some of them even wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him.

Nicodemus, one of their members who had come to him earlier, said to them, “Does our law condemn a man before it first hears him and finds out what he is doing?” They answered and said to him, “You are not from Galilee also, are you? Look and see that no prophet arises from Galilee.” Then each went to his own house.
Jn 7

Lord there is so much prejudice and hatred in our world. Everyone on some level looks at others and passes judgement on them. Where did they come from? Who do they know? What are they wearing? Are they better than me? Are they less than me? Help me to see others as You see them. Help me to see others based on the "fruit that they bear". Help me to make wise choices. Help me to balance, wisely choosing my associations but at the same time not judging others. To hate the sin but not the sinner. You are my Lord and God!

Friday, March 19, 2010

After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions, and all who heard him were astounded at his understanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.” And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” But they did not understand what he said to them. He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them.
Lk 2

Lord every time I hear this story I think about how Mary and Joseph must have felt. Parenting brings not only great joys but also great worries. I so wish that I could "fix" my children's problems and concerns. Yet, I know how much I have learned and grown from dealing with my own problems. I would not want to remove the wisdom that they will gain from their life experiences. How hard it must be for You to have given us free will. Help me to know the right things to say and the right things to do or not do (as the case may be). Help me to remember that as much as I love them, You love them infinitely more. Please send each one the grace and wisdom to lead their lives according to Your plan. I know that only when this happens will we find true happiness.

Thursday, March 18, 2010

But Moses implored the LORD, his God, saying, “Why, O LORD, should your wrath blaze up against your own people, whom you brought out of the land of Egypt with such great power and with so strong a hand? Why should the Egyptians say, ‘With evil intent he brought them out, that he might kill them in the mountains and exterminate them from the face of the earth’? Let your blazing wrath die down; relent in punishing your people. Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, and how you swore to them by your own self, saying, ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky; and all this land that I promised, I will give your descendants as their perpetual heritage.’“ So the LORD relented in the punishment he had threatened to inflict on his people.
Ex 32

Lord, Your mercy is great. You have saved Your people over and over again. No greater gift can a man give than to give his life for a friend. And You gave Your life for sinners. I am a sinner Lord but I am also Your friend. Please forgive me my sins and embrace my friendship, my love. Help it to grow!

Wednesday, March 17, 2010

Thus says the LORD: In a time of favor I answer you, on the day of salvation I help you; and I have kept you and given you as a covenant to the people, To restore the land and allot the desolate heritages, Saying to the prisoners: Come out! To those in darkness: Show yourselves! Along the ways they shall find pasture, on every bare height shall their pastures be. They shall not hunger or thirst, nor shall the scorching wind or the sun strike them; For he who pities them leads them and guides them beside springs of water. I will cut a road through all my mountains, and make my highways level. See, some shall come from afar, others from the north and the west, and some from the land of Syene. Sing out, O heavens, and rejoice, O earth,
break forth into song, you mountains. For the LORD comforts his people and shows mercy to his afflicted.

But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me; my Lord has forgotten me.” Can a mother forget her infant, be without tenderness for the child of her womb? Even should she forget, I will never forget you.
Is 49

I am so blessed because You love me. Help me to have the forgiveness, courage, motivation and devotion to You that St. Patrick has.
Christ be with me, Christ within me
Christ behind me, Christ before me
Christ beside me, Christ to win me
Christ to comfort me and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger
Christ in hearts of all that love me
Christ in mouth of friend or stranger.
ST PATRICK'S BREASTPLATE (390-461 A.D.)

Monday, March 15, 2010

Sing praise to the LORD, you his faithful ones, and give thanks to his holy name. For his anger lasts but a moment; a lifetime, his good will. At nightfall, weeping enters in, but with the dawn, rejoicing.
R. I will praise you, Lord, for you have rescued me.
Psalm 30

I will praise You Lord for You have rescued me!!! I believe You Lord, help my unbleief. I trust You Lord, help my untrusting. I love You Lord, help my unloving.

Saturday, March 13, 2010

"Come, let us return to the LORD, it is he who has rent, but he will heal us; he has struck us, but he will bind our wounds. He will revive us after two days; on the third day he will raise us up, to live in his presence. Let us know, let us strive to know the LORD; as certain as the dawn is his coming, and his judgment shines forth like the light of day! He will come to us like the rain, like spring rain that waters the earth.” .... For it is love that I desire, not sacrifice, and knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.
Hos 6

Lord I offer You my heart, my life, my soul. Forgive me for what I have done and what I have failed to do. Take my offering and make it complete, fill up what is lacking. I pray that Your will be done in my life and in the world in which I live.

Friday, March 12, 2010

R. I am the Lord your God: hear my voice.
O Israel, will you not hear me?” “There shall be no strange god among you nor shall you worship any alien god. I, the LORD, am your God who led you forth from the land of Egypt.”

“If only my people would hear me, and Israel walk in my ways, I would feed them with the best of wheat, and with honey from the rock I would fill them.”
R. I am the Lord your God: hear my voice.
Psalm 81

Lord, there are so many good things that distract us from You. Help me to always remember that these good gifts show the love of the Creator. How can these things seem more appealing than the lover who gave them? Help me to keep my priorities straight. Send me the grace to always walk with You as my goal, my love, my Lord.

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Come, let us sing joyfully to the LORD; let us acclaim the Rock of our salvation. Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us joyfully sing psalms to him.

Come, let us bow down in worship; let us kneel before the LORD who made us. For he is our God, and we are the people he shepherds, the flock he guides.
R. If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
Psalm 95

You alone are my Lord and God! You alone do I worship. Thank you Lord for Your gift of faith, Your grace sustains me!

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Therefore, I teach you the statutes and decrees as the LORD, my God, has commanded me, that you may observe them in the land you are entering to occupy. Observe them carefully, for thus will you give evidence of your wisdom and intelligence to the nations, who will hear of all these statutes and say, ‘This great nation is truly a wise and intelligent people.’ For what great nation is there that has gods so close to it as the LORD, our God, is to us whenever we call upon him? Or what great nation has statutes and decrees that are as just as this whole law which I am setting before you today?
Dt 4

Lord I am so worried about our country and about the future. I know that ultimately the victory is Yours and we must persevere in our belief. I want the world my children and grandchildren live in to be one of peace. Our great country was founded on and followed Your decrees. We were a beacon to the world. Now..... we have turned away from You and everything seems to be unraveling. Please Lord bless this country. Send Your Spirit to change hearts so that we will turn back to You. Open the hearts of all who lead to Your Word. I love You Lord and my hope is in You.

Monday, March 8, 2010

Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God and who is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink, ‘ you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” The woman said to him, “Sir, you do not even have a bucket and the cistern is deep; where then can you get this living water?

Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I may not be thirsty or have to keep coming here to draw water.”

“Believe me, woman, the hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You people worship what you do not understand; we worship what we understand, because salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth; and indeed the Father seeks such people to worship him. God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and truth.”
Jn 4

Lord I thirst for living water. Quench my thirst for You. Fill my heart with an unending passion for You. Send me Your Spirit so that I may worship You in spirit and in truth. Guide my life so that I may be pleasing to You. I love You Lord, thank You for loving me.

Sunshine

Thank you, Lord, for the gift of sunshine.  It was one of many blessings today, and I am grateful to You for all of them.

Saturday, March 6, 2010

Who is there like you, the God who removes guilt and pardons sin for the remnant of his inheritance; Who does not persist in anger forever, but delights rather in clemency, And will again have compassion on us, treading underfoot our guilt? You will cast into the depths of the sea all our sins; You will show faithfulness to Jacob, and grace to Abraham, As you have sworn to our fathers from days of old.
Mi 7

Lord, forgive my sins and hold me close to Your heart. You are great and wonderful. Thank You for Your gifts of compassion and salvation. My soul proclaims Your glory!

Friday, March 5, 2010

Jesus said to the chief priests and the elders of the people: “Hear another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a hedge around it, dug a wine press in it, and built a tower. Then he leased it to tenants and went on a journey. When vintage time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to obtain his produce. But the tenants seized the servants and one they beat, another they killed, and a third they stoned.

What will the owner of the vineyard do to those tenants when he comes?” They answered him, He will put those wretched men to a wretched death and lease his vineyard to other tenants who will give him the produce at the proper times.”

Therefore, I say to you, the Kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit.”
Mt 21

Jesus, so many good gifts You have given to me. I am so very blessed. Help me Lord when You send people into my life to do and say the right things. Help me to remember Your generosity and respond to others the same way. May my life and the gifts You have given to me, help to build the kingdom of heaven.

Thursday, March 4, 2010

But Jesus summoned them and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and the great ones make their authority over them felt. But it shall not be so among you. Rather, whoever wishes to be great among you shall be your servant; whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave. Just so, the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Mt 20

Lord, who am I to serve? Guide my life.

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

He said, ‘Then I beg you, father, send him to my father’s house, for I have five brothers, so that he may warn them, lest they too come to this place of torment.’ But Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’ He said, ‘Oh no, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’ Then Abraham said, ‘If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.’“
Mt 20

Lord, I have heard Your words over and over again. Why is it that they do not stay next to my heart as I wish they would. Believing is the easier part, doing is what is hard. Help me live my life always in Your ways. Help me to always remember Your love. Help me to always remember my deisre to be with You forever.

Hear the word of the LORD, princes of Sodom! Listen to the instruction of our God, people of Gomorrah! Wash yourselves clean! Put away your misdeeds from before my eyes; cease doing evil; learn to do good. Make justice your aim: redress the wronged, hear the orphan’s plea, defend the widow.

Come now, let us set things right, says the LORD: Though your sins be like scarlet, they may become white as snow; Though they be crimson red, they may become white as wool. If you are willing, and obey, you shall eat the good things of the land; But if you refuse and resist, the sword shall consume you: for the mouth of the LORD has spoken!

Lord there is so much evil in our world today. I am fearful that Your wrath will wipe us away like Sodom and Gomorrah! How much You must love us to give us so many chances to turn to You. Lord there is also much good. There are so many people who love You and are trying to follw in Your footsteps. Help me to love You more deeply and follow You more completely. Show me how to lead others closer to You. Put Your words in my mouth and courage in my soul to say and do the right things at the right time. I love You Lord, may Your will be done!

“Lord, great and awesome God, you who keep your merciful covenant toward those who love you and observe your commandments!
Dn 9

Lord I am so blessed! You have given me so much. Thank You for my wonderful husband. I know that he did not want another pet yet he filled my wishes anyway. This new puppy is such a joy! He brings so much happines to me. He reminds me again how wonderful You are Lord. You have created a great and wonderful world and I am very thankful! Blessed be God the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit!

Therefore, if you bring your gift to the altar, and there recall that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there at the altar, go first and be reconciled with your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
Mt 5:20-26

Lord please heal the brokeness in my family. I would like to do something, but I know meddling usually makes things worse. I turn to You my Lord for help. Help me to be a better person, strengthen my relationships and give me the words and actions to help healing occur.

Jesus said to his disciples: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asked for a loaf of bread, or a snake when he asked for a fish? If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him. “Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets.”
Mt 7:7-12

Jesus, show me Your will for my life. I believe that I should be doing something besides being home. Is it school? ministry? job? I have so many ideas floating around in my head that I do not know which way to go. I am stuck in doing nothing because I can not decide what I should do. I need the external motivation, committment to keep me healthy. The depression has not become a threat yet. I was so afraid that it would happen. I am thankful for my health but I feel as though I should be doing something. Something to further my future, marriage, home, and/or family and always building up Your kingdom. I love You Lord, please guide me.

Have mercy on me, O God, in your goodness; in the greatness of your compassion wipe out my offense. Thoroughly wash me from my guilt and of my sin cleanse me. A heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will not spurn.

A clean heart create for me, O God, and a steadfast spirit renew within me. Cast me not out from your presence, and your Holy Spirit take not from me. A heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will not spurn.

For you are not pleased with sacrifices; should I offer a burnt offering, you would not accept it. My sacrifice, O God, is a contrite spirit; a heart contrite and humbled, O God, you will not spurn.
Psalm 51

A clean heart create for me, O God, and a steadfast spirit renew within me. Only with Your grace can I move forward. Thank you for the undeserved gift of Your love. My life is truly blessed.

Jesus said to his disciples: “In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
“This is how you are to pray:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

“If you forgive men their transgressions, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you do not forgive men, neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.”
Mt 6:7-15

Lord it is frightening to think that my forgiveness is based on my ability to forgive others. I know You are merciful and loving. I will continue to do my best to be forgiving and hope in You! Please forgive me. Thank you for teaching us how to pray. I lift my voice with Yours in praying to OUR FATHER....

And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Mt 16

Lord, thank You for the gift of faith. There have been so many times in my life when I don't know what I would have done without You. Thank You for the gift of the Church. It has given me direction and encouragement. Thank You especially for my parish family as they have been truly life giving for me. I have experienced Your love and grace through them many, many times!

Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble.
Because he clings to Me, I will deliver him; I will set him on high because he acknowledges My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in distress; I will deliver him and glorify him.
Be with me, Lord, when I am in trouble.
Ps 91

pride,
covetousness (also known as avarice or greed),
lust,
anger,
gluttony 1 : excess in eating or drinking 2 : greedy or excessive indulgence
envy: 1 : painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by another joined with a desire to possess the same advantage
sloth (acedia): 1. disinclination to action or labor 2. spiritual apathy and inactivity

Be with me Lord when I am in trouble, be with me Lord I pray. I know I have an unhealthy attachement to sweets. Help me to see them as one of your good gifts and not as a need.
Be with me Lord when I am in trouble, be with me Lord I pray. Is my feelings of being less or inadequate based in envy? Help me Lord to see the truth.
Be with me Lord when I am in trouble, be with me Lord I pray. I am to inactive both spiritually and physically. Help me to have self discipline, interest and energy.
Guide me to be the person you want me to be.

Saturday, February 20, 2010

Incline your ear, O LORD; answer me, for I am afflicted and poor. Keep my life, for I am devoted to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God.

Have mercy on me, O Lord, for to you I call all the day. Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, I lift up my soul.

For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in kindness to all who call upon you. Hearken, O LORD, to my prayer and attend to the sound of my pleading.
Psalm 86

Send Your Spirit Lord to guide my thoughts, actions and prayer. I love You.

Thursday, February 18, 2010

“Today I have set before you life and prosperity, death and doom. If you obey the commandments of the LORD, your God, which I enjoin on you today, loving him, and walking in his ways, and keeping his commandments, statutes and decrees, you will live and grow numerous,

If, however, you turn away your hearts and will not listen, but are led astray and adore and serve other gods, I tell you now that you will certainly perish; you will not have a long life

I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then,
that you and your descendants may live, by loving the LORD, your God, heeding his voice, and holding fast to him. For that will mean life for you,
Dt 30

Lord it is so easy to get caught up in "things" that distract us from You. Help me to keep my priorities straight to remember that things, even good things are just stuff to use and enjoy on the journey not the purpose of the journey. Guide my heart, mind and actions toward You. I choose life, help me to live as Your daughter.

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

Even now, says the LORD, return to me with your whole heart, with fasting, and weeping, and mourning; Rend your hearts, not your garments, and return to the LORD, your God. For gracious and merciful is he, slow to anger, rich in kindness, and relenting in punishment. Perhaps he will again relent and leave behind him a blessing, Offerings and libations for the LORD, your God.
Jl 2:12-18

Lent begins today. O Lord may this lent bring me ever closer to You. I have faith, forgive my doubts. I have hope, wash away my depression. I have love, help my unloving.

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Blessed the man whom you instruct, O LORD, whom by your law you teach, Giving him rest from evil days.

For the LORD will not cast off his people, nor abandon his inheritance; But judgment shall again be with justice, and all the upright of heart shall follow it.

When I say, “My foot is slipping,” your mercy, O LORD, sustains me; When cares abound within me, your comfort gladdens my soul.
Psalm 94:

Blessed be God our Father the Almighty! Thank you Lord for yesteray, a day of energy, direction and motivation. Your love is great and it sustains me.

The Pharisees came forward and began to argue with Jesus, seeking from Him a sign from heaven to test Him. He sighed from the depth of His spirit and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.” Then He left them, got into the boat again, and went off to the other shore.
Mk 8:11-13

Lord I find great comfort in knowing that You too experienced frustration, disappointment and discouragement. You removed Yourself from that environment to rest and renew Yourself. I know You did not abandon Your mission, just regrouped. I often "sigh from the depth of my spirit", it is so hard not to just give up. From Your example I know that it is okay to step away. This encourages me as I often need to back up and review my perspective. Thank you Lord for helping me not to lose faith and run away. There have been many times that I couldn't have made it without You. My mind, heart and soul give You praise and thanksgiving!

Friday, February 12, 2010

then he looked up to heaven and groaned, and said to him, “Ephphatha!” (that is, “Be opened!”)And immediately the man’s ears were opened, his speech impediment was removed, and he spoke plainly. He ordered them not to tell anyone. But the more he ordered them not to, the more they proclaimed it. They were exceedingly astonished and they said, “He has done all things well. He makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”
Mk 7:31-37

Lord please open my ears to hear You. I know You speak to me through elements of this world. There is so much noise, it is so hard to hear. Tune my heart to hear Your words of love and guidance. Guide my mouth to speak Your words. May the Holy Spirit guide my words to be loving and true. To say the right thing at the right time. To bring Your love and Your message to the world around me. Praise, glory and honor to You my Lord for You have done great things for me.

Thursday, February 11, 2010

Blessed are they who observe what is right, who do always what is just. Remember us, O LORD, as you favor your people; visit us with your saving help.

But they mingled with the nations and learned their works. They served their idols,
which became a snare for them.
Psalm 106:

How easy it is for me to become captured by the lures of our society. There are so many good people but we have become accustomed to the evil around us. It just seems normal. Help me to live rightly and to behave lovingly toward others and myself. Help me to avoid the snares around me.

Wednesday, February 10, 2010

When he got home away from the crowd his disciples questioned him about the parable. He said to them, “Are even you likewise without understanding? Do you not realize that everything that goes into a person from outside cannot defile, since it enters not the heart but the stomach and passes out into the latrine?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.) “But what comes out of the man, that is what defiles him. From within the man, from his heart, come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance, folly. All these evils come from within and they defile.”
Mk 7:14-23

Lord help me to guard what I take into my heart and mind. It is so difficult sometimes to discern what is right and what is wrong. Give me understanding to know the truth and the courage to stand up for what is right.

Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of the whole community of Israel, and stretching forth his hands toward heaven, he said, “LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven above or on earth below; you keep your covenant of mercy with your servants who are faithful to you with their whole heart.
1 Kgs 8:

Monday, February 8, 2010

After making the crossing to the other side of the sea, Jesus and his disciples came to land at Gennesaret and tied up there. As they were leaving the boat, people immediately recognized him. They scurried about the surrounding country and began to bring in the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. Whatever villages or towns or countryside he entered, they laid the sick in the marketplaces and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak;and as many as touched it were healed.
Mk 6:53-56

Jesus there was no rest for You. Everywhere You went the people followed for their own benefits. Today we do the same. Yet, You taught us to persevere in prayer. Please help me to pray for the right things. Not just for benefits for myself but for the benefit of others, the building up of Your kingdom and that Your will might be fulfilled. I believe in You, help my unbelief. I love You Lord, help my unloving.

Sunday, February 7, 2010

Your right hand saves me. The LORD will complete what He has done for me; your kindness, O LORD, endures forever; forsake not the work of Your hands.
Psalm 138

Dear Jesus I give you thanks for the many blessings in my life. Help me to always see the good; the goodness of your love, the blessings I take for granted, the goodness of all your beloved children. When I see the glass as half full, help me to remember your love and grace fills it to the brim.

With his every deed he offered thanks to God Most High, in words of praise. With his whole being he loved his Maker and daily had his praises sung;
Sir 47:

Lord help me to remember to give you thanks and glory. It is you who created me and all that I am. Nothing exists without you. Give me the energy to do what I am supposed to do and the self control to do it.
